MARE continued with the Long Term Monitoring of California’s Marine Protected Areas (MPA) and  sampled select sites off the California coast from Crescent City to San Diego in June-July 2021. We sampled 21 MPA and their reference sites during 43 dives aboard the F/V Outer Limits. During this 4-week expedition, we recorded data on 215  transects and collected over 22,000 still images.  The imagery collected during this expedition will be analyzed by MARE biologists in our Eureka, CA office. Results from this expedition will be sent to our academic partners for detailed statistical analysis to help inform the State of California about the performance of the statewide network to-date.
