CALIFORNIA MARINE PROTECTED AREAS, YEAR 3 B

MARE continued with the Long Term Monitoring of California’s Marine Protected Areas (MPA), adding two additional MPAs and their reference sites to the work that had been completed earlier in the year. We surveyed 7 sites at Point Lobos and Point Sur. We recorded data on 55 transects and collected 4,700 still images. The imagery collected during this expedition will be analyzed by MARE biologists along with the data collected earlier this year. Results from this expedition will be sent to our academic partners for detailed statistical analysis to help inform the State of California about the performance of the statewide network to-date.
