MARE joined the  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA),  the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium on an expedition to locate deep-sea corals around the northern Channel Islands off Santa Barbara. Our team visited never before seen areas during the 14-day research expedition. The ROV Beagle made 30 dives in 18 study areas in effort to discover new deep-sea coral habitats.
