CA MPAs – 2024

MARE continued with the Long Term Monitoring of California’s Marine Protected Areas (MPA), surveying seven central coast MPAs and their reference sites. We surveyed 17 sites from Bodega Bay to Pillar Point. We recorded data on 89 transects and collected 7,335 still images. The video collected during this expedition will be analyzed by MARE biologists to identify habitats, fish, and invertebrates. Results will help inform the State of California about the performance of the statewide MPA network to-date.
