The first year of long-term monitoring began on July 11, 2019 and lasted through August 22, 2019, where we successfully completed two deployments of our ROV Beagle. In July, we sampled 17 sites off the R/V Shearwater in Southern CA from Point Conception to Campus Point, including the northern Channel Islands. In August, we sampled 28 sites off the R/V Fulmar in Northern and Central CA from Bodega Bay to Point Buchon. The video imagery collected during this expedition will be analyzed in MARE’s Eureka office and sent to our academic partners for further statistical analysis to help guide the State of California in their long term MPA monitoring efforts.
