MARE continued with the  Long Term Monitoring of California’s Marine Protected Areas (MPA) and  sampled select sites in the southern CA MPA network in June 2020. We  sampled  31 sites aboard the  Outer Limits from  San Diego to the Northern Channel Islands. During this 3-week expedition, we collected over 100 hours of video on 250  transects and collected over 18,000 still images. The imagery collected during this expedition will be analyzed by MARE biologists in our Eureka, CA office. Results from this expedition will be sent to our academic partners for detailed statistical analysis to help inform the State of California about the performance of the statewide network to-date.
