PALEOLANDSCAPE EXPEDITION 2023

MARE joined the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary (CINMS), LA Natural History Museum and Scripps Institute of Oceanography on this 5 day expedition from January 1st – 10th of 2023 on the R/V Sally Ride. The goal was to locate tar seeps and possible paleoestuaries exposed during the last glacial period among the Channel Islands. This data will help researchers better understand the archaeological, biological, and geological resources in the area. The ROV Beagle collected 16 rock and sediment samples on 13 dives within 6 sites to support this mission.
