GULF OF MEXICO – C 2022

MARE provided data management support during a 10-day research expedition with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) aboard R/V Point Sur from October 3rd to the 12th 2022. This expedition was a continuation of the previous two surveys in the Gulf of Mexico earlier this year. The goal was to collect samples in order to understand the genetic distribution of corals across the Gulf of Mexico. Live samples were brought back to the lab for propagation. A total of 329 samples were collected during 29 dives using UNCW’s ROV MOHAWK.

Coral samples collected during this expedition by the UNCW’s ROV MOHAWK for propagation in the lab in order to study their genetics.
