GULF OF MEXICO – D 2023

MARE participated in the 4th expedition in this series to collect samples for propagation assisting in deep-sea mesophotic coral restoration in the Gulf of Mexico. MARE’s team joined a crew of scientists from NOAA, University of Rhode Island, SUNY, and University of Southern Mississippi on the R/V Point Sur from May 13th – 26th 2023. The ROV beagle collected coral samples on 24 dives on 78 transects, which will be post processed to characterize benthic finfish and invertebrate communities by MARE biologists.
